Crop PDF

Crop PDF page margins with auto-detect or a manual box — export a tighter document in your browser.

Your files stay on your device.

Processing

Crop a PDF when oversized margins, scanner bed edges, or leftover whitespace distract from the real content.

Use automatic margin detection, or drag a manual crop box that applies across pages, then download the trimmed document. PDFPeach crops locally in your browser — free, with no file upload.

How to crop PDF

  1. Upload a PDF.
  2. Run automatic crop or draw a manual crop box for the area you want to keep.
  3. Download the cropped PDF.

Preview the crop before export so text near the edges is not clipped by accident.

Why crop PDF margins

Wide empty borders waste screen space and printer toner. Cropping focuses each page on the content box without re-exporting from the original authoring app.

  • Auto margin detection — Find and remove empty whitespace around content.
  • Manual crop box — Draw the keep-region yourself when auto is too aggressive or too shy.
  • Consistent apply — Manual crops apply across pages for uniform packs.
  • Private processing — Runs on your device via PDFPeach; nothing uploaded.

When to crop a PDF

  • Trim black scanner borders from a batch of paper scans.
  • Tighten slides that exported with huge unused margins.
  • Remove a letterhead band you no longer need on reprints.
  • Prepare pages before resize to a standard paper size.
  • Clean pages before n-up so cells are not mostly white space.

Crop modes

Mode Behavior
Automatic Scans each page and removes empty whitespace around content
Manual You draw a crop area; that region is applied to all pages

Crop vs resize

  • Crop — Changes the visible page box by cutting content/margins away.
  • Resize — Places content on a new paper size or adds margins (Resize PDF Pages).

Tips

Rotate sideways pages first with Rotate PDF Pages so the crop box aligns with readable text. For binding gutters you want to add, use resize margins instead of crop.

Privacy

Cropping never uploads your PDF. Export writes a new file; the original on disk is unchanged.

Frequently asked questions

What does automatic crop do?

It scans each page and removes empty whitespace around the content so margins shrink to fit what is actually drawn.

Does the manual crop apply to every page?

Yes. The crop area you draw is applied to all pages in the document for a consistent result.

Will cropping delete content outside the box?

The exported PDF keeps only the cropped region. Content outside the box will not appear in the download — preview carefully before you save.

Are my files uploaded?

No. Crop runs entirely in your browser on PDFPeach.

Crop or resize — which do I need?

Crop to cut away edges. Resize to change paper size or add white margins without cutting content.
