Processing

Create an N-up PDF when you want several source pages on each printed sheet — handouts, booklet proofs, and paper-saving office packs.

Choose 2-up, 4-up, 4-up vertical, 8-up, 8-up vertical, 16-up, or 32-up, then pick the output sheet size (for example A4 pages 2-up on A3). Optional right-to-left reading order supports Arabic and Hebrew layouts. PDFPeach builds the sheet grid in your browser — no upload.

How to make an N-up PDF

  1. Upload a PDF.
  2. Pick an N-up layout and the output paper size you will print on.
  3. Download the multi-page-per-sheet PDF.

Enable right-to-left mode when pages should fill each row from the right. Source pages scale to fit the cells on the chosen sheet.

Why use N-up for printing

Printing one page per sheet is simple but wasteful for review copies. N-up packs more content onto each sheet while keeping a readable grid.

  • Layouts from 2-up to 32-up — Including vertical stacks where that reads better.
  • Sheet size control — Match the paper in the tray, not only the source page size.
  • RTL option — Row fill order for right-to-left documents.
  • Local and free — Files stay on your device; no account required.

When to create N-up PDFs

  • Print speaker notes or slide decks 2-up or 4-up for meetings.
  • Proof a long report on fewer sheets before final single-page print.
  • Produce classroom handouts with multiple problems per page.
  • Save paper on internal review cycles.
  • Prep imposition-style sheets before finishing elsewhere (not a full bindery substitute).

Layout meanings

Layout Arrangement
2-up Two source pages per sheet, side by side
4-up 2×2 grid
4-up vertical Four pages stacked in one column
8-up / 8-up vertical Denser grids; vertical variant stacks in columns
16-up / 32-up High-density sheets for overview printing

Choosing paper size

Pick the sheet you will print on. A common pattern is A4 content 2-up on A3, or A5 content 4-up on A3. Cells scale source pages to fit.

Right-to-left mode

When enabled, pages place from right to left within each row so reading order matches Arabic and Hebrew documents.

Frequently asked questions

What does 2-up mean?

Two source pages are placed on each output sheet, side by side. 4-up uses a 2×2 grid; 4-up vertical stacks four pages in one column. Higher N values use denser grids.

Which paper size should I choose?

Choose the sheet loaded in your printer (often A3 for 2-up A4). Source pages are scaled to fit the layout cells.

What is right-to-left mode?

It places pages from right to left within each row, matching Arabic and Hebrew reading order.

Are my PDFs uploaded?

No. N-up runs entirely in your browser and is free on PDFPeach.

Is N-up the same as a poster tile?

No. N-up shrinks many pages onto one sheet. Print Poster enlarges one page across many sheets you tape together.
