Chapter options

Any text that appears before the first heading is kept as an opening section, so nothing is dropped.
Pictures and the cover
If the PDF opens on cover art, that artwork becomes the book's cover: it shows as the thumbnail in your library and opens the book, just like a shop-bought e-book.
Other pictures are pulled out at their original resolution and placed in the book where they sat on the page. Photographs are saved in a compact format, while pictures that rely on transparency — logos, diagrams with cut-out backgrounds — keep it.
Very small graphics are skipped on purpose: rules, bullets, spacers, and background textures would only add clutter and file size. You can also switch pictures off entirely for a text-only book, which produces a much smaller file.
Limits
This tool reads text that is already selectable in the PDF. A scanned page is a picture of text, so there is nothing to reflow — converting a pure scan will tell you no text was found rather than producing an empty book.
Layout that depends on a fixed page does not survive reflowing, and that is the point: multi-column academic papers, magazine spreads, and slide decks are read in column order and may interleave awkwardly. Tables come through as text in reading order rather than as laid-out tables. Footnotes stay in the text near where they appeared rather than becoming linked notes.
Heavily designed documents convert less cleanly than plain prose, so expect to skim the result before settling in with a long one.
